Style Review of VIP Style Awards 2014

It's all about the dresses !!!

The cream of Irish talent hit an unusually sunny red carpet Friday evening for the thirteenth Peter Mark VIP Style Awards at the Marker Hotel.

There was an eclectic mix of style on show with the cream of the Irish fashion world putting their best foot forward, here is our pick of who really stood out for either good or bad reasons !

First, we will start with the Irish models who were out in force.

The Models

Hannah Devane

I like this look, I think it is young, fresh and on trend, although I would prefer it to be a little more demure, she looks great and love the shoes. -Fi

Teodora Sutra

This look is very sophisticated and the back of the dress was a deep V which was the main feature.
Minimalist and chic- Fi

This look is Kim Kardashion-esque and I really like it, she has a great figure and looks racy yet elegant- Fi

Holly Carpenter

Holly's jumpsuit is fab and her makeup and accessories work great, not a huge fan of the hair or bag-Fi

Rozanna Purcell

Roz stood out in her royal blue power suit, looks great on her but maybe a little ill-fitting? Adore the hair, accessories and makeup- Fi

Pippa O'Connor-Ormond

One of the best on the night, love it all - Fi

Thalia Heffernan

Pure sophistication, fabulous! - Fi

On the plus side, the shoes and bag are gorgeous, just not a huge fan of the cut out sleeves- Fi

Emma Waldron

I love yellow and think this is gorgeous- Fi

Diana Bunici

It's ok, not to my taste- Fi

Aoife Walsh

Miss Ireland is pretty in pink, the dress style is lovely on her, not mad about the colour.- Fi

Vogue Williams

I like it, but it is nothing special !! - Fi

Secondly, we will move onto the television personalities and actresses who brought their A game.

Actresses and TV Personalities

I like that she went for something different- Fi

The big winner on the night, Rosanna really got it so wrong in Dawn Fitzgerald Atelier- Fi

Classic black, just a bit OTT for the event- Fi

This is a great look on her- Fi

The Ryans look Stylish- Fi

Glenda Gilson

Glenda always looks great but I think this is ageing on her- Fi

It is a nice look but feel like there is something missing from it- Fi

Makeup is great, the dress is ok just not the most flattering- Fi

Add caption

Think she is hilarious but not fond of this at all- Fi

Laura Woods

This is lovely, top marks Laura - Fi

The hair and makeup are spot on and the colour suits her, just think she looks a bit swamped in this style- Fi

I think she did well here- Fi

Kathryn Thomas

Not the right dress for this event- Fi

Big fan of this- Fi

I like this, I think it suits her- Fi

Jennifer Maguire

This metallic dress suits Lucy but would look much better with bigger hair- Fi

Not a fan- Fi

Very young and on-trend, really like this look- Fi

Aoibhin Garrihy

The Mature Ladies

Ann Doyle

Matchy matchy but you cannot go wrong with black - Fi

I think Mary looked great- Fi

These Irish women showed that we really have style in this country and most were supporting Irish designers.

Overall everyone made a great effort on the night and each looked confident in what they chose to wear.

Our favourites from the night:

The Men:

 Conor McGregor.

Conor won Irelands Most Stylish Male at the event and we agree 100%!! The mixed martial artist and UFC superstar made a confident appearance in a fitted, navy, pin-stripped suit with a powder blue shirt. The dickie bow and pocket watch just set it off!  He got it spot on and has become the nations favourite over the past year, along with his growing success came his growing love for fashion. He is on trend, stylish and perfectly groomed! Heart throb central! -Hil x

The Women:

Courtney Smith.

My favourite from the night, unique, different, stylish and very lady like! It ticked all the boxes for me. I get bored of on-trend dresses sometimes, esp on the red carpet, if everyone is in it its not special! This was so different but yet fitted the occasion perfectly. Her accessories were also spot on, no necklace which I love as the dress is bold enough in print, beautiful bangles and rings and the headband and little clutch are fab!! Courtney, you rocked it! - Hil x

Best New Comer:

Leanne Moore -Winner of newcomer award at The Peter Mark Vip Style Awards 2014..Pic: Brian McEvoy.
Leanne Moore.

Leanne won best new comer at the Style Awards, great choice! Usually, Im not a huge "mesh" fan when it comes to dresses, it can look tacky and cheap. It works great here and skin colour is an exact match which helps! Its girly, yet dark and sultry! The blonde hair and dark lippy combo are a trend spark and work great against each other! Congrats Leanne!! :) - Hil x

The Older Guys:
Daithi O Se on stage at The Peter Mark Vip Style Awards 2014..Pic: Brian McEvoy.
Daithi O Se

Daithi is doing it for the Daddys!! Simple suit and nice little funky dickie bow, he couldnt go wrong! We are loving the beard too! - Hil x

Bargain Beauty Essentials

Aveeno Moisturising Creamy Oil with Colloidal Oatmeal 300ml €8.89

This is a find which came from another 3for2 offer in boots. I like a moisturiser that isn't sticky and dries quickly and this product ticks all the boxes, it is also a natural product which is kinder to the skin. I have tried aveeno before and this is my favourite so far from the range. From using tan my skin tends to be dry and I really recommend this product for anyone needing a quick and easy moisturiser, added bonuses are that the bottle lasts ages and it smells great aswel  :)

Vaseline Rose and Almond Oil €2.19

Usually I just call this 'pink Vaseline'. I absolutely love this product I use it numerous times a day and I particularly like the pink version as it gives a nice colour along with the moisturising benefits of Vaseline. It smells great and looks like a lipgloss, I have been asked on numerous occasions what I've had on my lips and it's just been 'pink Vaseline'. Makeup bag must have for the busy woman.

Boots Conconut & Almond Leave in Conditioner 150ml €1.99

This is a miracle product for me, since my Mam bought this for me a few months ago after my complaining of dry hair, I have used it after every single wash. It smells great, leaves hair softer and shinier and I have noticed an improvement in my locks. This is now a staple in my hair care and it suits all hair types as my sisters and Mam use it too and we all have very different hair types. The smell this product gives your hair really does last all day and With the great price you really can't go wrong!

Johnson's Baby Oil 500ml €5.49

EVERYONE should have this product in their beauty regime, it has countless uses!! From makeup and tan remover to skin moisturiser, it really is an all-rounder! Personally I particularly like to use this at the end of the shower on wet skin to lock in the moisture, there's no mess and no fuss and you are moisturised even before stepping out of the shower. Simple, buy it!!!

Palmers Natural Bronze Body Lotion €5.83
Us Irish girls really really really love our tan :) We like to be bronzed! This product is a build up tan which for the price I found very good. The colour is golden and very easily built up, little tip is to use a mitt rather than your hands as through experience - hands leave some patches ! A great product for a nice colour during the week. This wears off very well and does not leave that dirty patchy look we all hate!

I priced all of these products in Boots but they are available in most pharmacies and supermarkets, where prices vary!

Some beauty bits to get us through the mid-month slump before payday, Happy Shopping !!
